Barnstaple town, which is 2 miles from the campsite, has a historic pannier market, a leisure centre and an indoor tennis centre – Tarka Tennis. The Tarka Trail is one of the longest continuous traffic free shared path (32 miles long) along a disused railway and can be joined close to Barnstaple station.
There are many lovely beaches in the area, including Saunton Sands and Woolacombe/Putsborough beaches, both sandy beaches 3 miles long. Braunton Burrows is a nearby UNESCO protected Biosphere Reserve and for walkers there is a wealth of walks with stunning scenery to choose from along the South West Coast Path. Exmoor National Park can be reached a 15 minute drive away.
The National Trust property Arlington Court is 6 miles from us, along the A39, and has over 25 miles of footpaths to explore, all set in 2600 acres.
Just outside Barnstaple there is a 9 to 18 hole golf course, Portmore Golf Park, and 2 miles away is a fly fishing and trout farm, Blakewell, where you can catch your supper for a barbecue in the evening.
